AS English

When the former 205 pound champion Jon Jones takes on Frenchman Ciryl Gane in UFC 285 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, it will be for all the marbles. The winner will be the undisputed UFC Heavyweight Champion.

Gane has won 11 of his 12 professional bouts, and now as interim heavyweight champion he has a tall order to fill. Defeating some big names on his way to this fight, Gane must now repeat the performance against a UFC legend in Jon Jones, who has cleaned up at light-heavy and is looking to become a two-weight world champion.

In the women’s division, Valentina Schevchenko will take on Mexico’s Alexa Grasso for the flyweight title, while the rest of the card features Geoff Neal vs. Shavkat Rakhmonov, Mateusz Gamrot vs. Jalin Turner and Bo Nickal vs. Jamie Pickett.

UFC 285 preview

Jon Jones

Jones set the UFC world on fire, going 26-1 as a professional, with his only loss a controversial disqualification in 2009. The 35-year-old former light-heavyweight world champion is back in the octagon after a three-year absence and is stepping up a weight class.

The American thinks that he has spotted holes in Gane’s game that he can exploit. “I respect Ciryl Gane, I really do. I say this humbly, but I study film constantly and I just see a lot of patterns. When he is in one stance, there’s things he really loves to do; he goes to the same well a lot. When he’s in the opposite stance, he has a lot of tendencies.”
